...for God to break barriers in your life. Barriers are simply defined as "obstacles that prevents movement or access". Besides the struggles in our lives, I have come to find that barriers can also come in the form of our own mindset and perspectives. Entering a new phase of my life, God has already clearly laid down His plans for me for the next few years. But it took me a while to digest and say a complete yes because He was pointing to places and programs that I absolutely do not want to go or be a part of!
My initial desire was to work and do bible studies. He has opened the door for me to work and do bible studies at the same time but it did not fit my specifics. I had the idea of going to a multi-denominational bible college because I wanted to reach out to all denominations. I wanted to work in an international school because that's where we learn deeper as an educator. But, God is opening the door for me to go to a denominational seminary and work in a church kindergarten which needs a lot of help.
Honestly to say, I was pretty confused. But, God spoke to me when I was in the toilet one day (I have completely no idea why He likes to choose this particular venue to speak often haha!). He said - "A multi-denominational school is a school that already accepts unity. Why not go to a place that is still struggling with accepting differences? An international school has all the help they need. Why not go to a broken school that needs Me more? I do not want you to go to places that are perfect. I want you to go to places that are imperfect in the eyes of men. That's where you'll learn that I can use anything, although they may not be perfect in men's eyes, to teach you things you need to learn and that I can use you to be the difference in many amazing ways hands-on." This reminds me of Colossians 1:6 that says "Everything was created through Him and for Him."
With that, I recalled that God called my friends and I to a college that many might not call it great. But, He used it anyway and proved us wrong in many ways. God is in a business of breaking our mindset and perspectives. Without barriers in our thinking, I think only then we will truly believe that He is a God of ALL possibilities. He is a God who can use anything and everything. And what other best way to learn than to be at the heart of what we really want to do and learning it hands-on. It also teaches us humility because God always use the broken and despised to teach us many things. I am up for the journey and excited to see where it'll take me. I hope that when God challenges your mindset and perspective, you'll also take up the journey! "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2)
May. =)
